Another attraction for the community from the Heart’s Content Community Development Corporation. This Leave A Book Take a Book cabinet made by one of our board members, Gord Tavenor, is modelled after the Cable Houses.
Well in Heart’s Content this summer, everything’s coming up roses, or is that geraniums? Geraniums, you say? Adopted long ago as the popular flower of Heart’s Content, displayed in profusion in the windows of the cable houses, this year geraniums are back – big time! Look at our new concrete planters, 14 of them, and the blooming plants springing up on doorsteps, on fences and in front yards all around the town. What a beautiful way to greet visitors!
And speaking of beautiful things, our limited edition reproduction of Jeanette Jobson’s painting “Heart’s Content Geraniums” is now available. We have only 100 full-size prints (16x20) at $175.00, plus 8x10 replicas at $45.00. Each 16x20 print comes with a numbered certificate signed by the artist. Pick them up at the Baccalieu Gallery in Heart’s Content or order from their online store https://www.jeanettejobson.com.
This is a fundraiser by the nonprofit Heart’s Content Community Development Corporation in aid of community projects.

Heart’s Content Community Development Corporation - Geranium Fever!
Heart’s Content has a strong historic connection with geraniums. Back in the day when the cable station was in full swing, visitors to our town found the front windows of the cable houses “filled with wonderful geraniums in profuse bloom.” Over the years geraniums spread through the community and became the popular flower of Heart’s Content. We want to make Geraniums (particularly Red varieties) one of the features of Heart’s Content in the summertime.
The Come Home Year 2022 Cultural Funding grant has enabled us to place 14 large concrete pots of geraniums at different locations, adding to the beauty of the community, and making it a more colourful place for our own Come Home Year celebrations the first week of August. Take pictures of all the geraniums you see and post on social media to build up the vibe. We are asking all residents to participate by planting Geraniums in pots or flower beds or on window ledges in homes. We need “Geranium Fever”. We hope to see Heart’s Content “bursting in bloom” for the summer of 2022! Join the "fever"....plant geraniums!
In support of the Geranium project here’s a section of a painting of “Heart’s Content Geraniums” Jeanette Jobson is doing for us. We’ll have limited edition prints for sale over the summer. Stayed tuned for more information!

"We have plans for geraniums and Heart's Content!! Keep your ears and eyes tuned!"
This idea comes from one of our most energetic members of the board, Wallace Rendell, who remembers the geraniums all around Heart's Content years before. We think it is a marvelous idea, let's start the trend!
